About Mary Begley

 

Begley was born in Buffalo but raised in Saratoga, New York, she returned to her birth place to acquire her BFA from Buffalo State College and then her MFA from The University of Buffalo. Her work has appeared throughout the U.S..

 

Among her accomplishments Begley was awarded a Fellowship from the New York State Fountation for the Arts in Painting. She was also awarded an individual artist grant from the Saltonstall Foundation. Recently, Begley’s abstract painting, Incubation, was awarded “Best in Show” in the 2012 MADE IN NY exhibit at Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, Auburn NY.

 

Begley works primarily as an abstract painter but her more impressionistic paintings shown on this web site are a favorite to friends and family.

 

She continues to live and work in Buffalo. In addition to her career as a painter she is the Label Manager at Ani DiFranco’s Righteous Babe Records, a place where art and commerce can coexist.
